Bamboo Flooring

BAMBOO FLOORING

Bamboo flooring is becoming a popular alternative to traditional hardwood flooring as it has physical similarities to hardwood but is more durable, eco-friendly and sustainable, and has a natural resistance to insects and moisture. Bamboo is not wood; it is a grass native to China. The bamboo is harvested, dried, and manufactured similar to many other hardwoods. It is cut, stripped, planed and treated with a heat press. Adhesive is applied to add stability to the planks, and a clear top layer is added for resiliency and durability. It is available in a variety of styles (Horizontal, Vertical, Strand Woven), colours (Natural, Carbonized, Stained) and finishes including hand-scraped (a distressed, traditional appearance). Because it is a dimensionally stable flooring material, it can be floated over an underlay, used with underfloor heating, and installed in areas where humidity and temperature fluctuate significantly.
