LAMINATE FLOORING

Laminate flooring is a multi-layer synthetic flooring product fused together with a lamination process.  Contrary to popular believe, it is not made of plastic, although in the early days it looked like it due to appearance and design being sacrificed for affordability.  Now, with innovative manufacturing, laminate looks as if it is solid hardwood or stone but is much more affordable.  Laminate flooring simulates wood (and sometimes stone) with a photographic applique layer under a clear protective layer. It is constructed of 4 layers: WEAR (clear layer made of aluminum oxide to protect against fading, stains, surface burns), DESIGN (under the wear layer, a high-resolution photograph of the floor’s surface appearance), CORE (under the design layer, a durable, high-density board that protects from indentations and moisture), and BACK LAYER (bottom layer responsible for protecting the plank against moisture and balances the floor). Laminate is a popular choice in the consumer market, comes in a wide range of finishes, and is great for entry ways, hallways, living rooms, even kitchens, baths (if proper precautions art in place like a moisture barrier), and high traffic areas as it is resistant to scratch, fade, and is easy to clean.  It is the ideal choice for active families with children and pets running around.
